English
CSU: 4 years (including no more than 1 year of ESL/ELD courses)

Mathematics
CSU: 3 years of mathematics ( including algebra I and II, geometry); 4 years recommended *
UC: 3 years of mathematics ( including algebra I and II, geometry); 4 years recommended *
Science
CSU: 2 years (1 year of physical science and 1 year of biological science)
UC: 2 years (must include at least 2 of the 3 foundational subjects of biology, chemistry, and physics); 3 years recommended *
Foreign Language
CSU: 2 years of language other than English (must be the same language, American Sign Language accepted) *
UC: 2 years of language other than English (must be the same language, American Sign Language accepted) ; 3 years recommended *
Visual and Performing Arts
CSU: 1 yearlong course in visual and performing arts (selected from dance, music, theatre/drama and visual arts)

Elective
CSU: 1 year of an elective chosen from any area on approved “a-g” course list
